RIVERGATE MALL - For all of you that couldn't join us

Bob Jenkins, Marketing Director at Rivergate Mall, invited Ron and I to perform at the mall to raise awareness about SIDS, sell a few CDs, and to share some of the music from Christmas Without You

We were set up outside of the Sears store near the children's play area and a maternity shop.  Sometimes it's funny how things turn out.  Many people stopped by our display and read about SIDS, some even walked away crying.  Many came up to me to say thank you.  One family couldn't afford to buy the album, but gave us a $5 donation.  Families would sit in the play area and listen to the music and our announcements.

On the last day I brought a box full of small gifts and ventured over to the play area.  With parent's permission, I let each child choose a gift from the box.  I loved seeing those little faces light up.  We only sold about 10 CDs over the three days we were there, but we feel we were a complete success because we know we touched people's lives and we carried the message, the message of HOPE that someday others won't have to experience the pain of loosing a child to SIDS.

I want to take this opportunity to again thank Jimmy Fulbright, Don Carr and Chris Golden for joining us in the search for answers.  You touched my heart.  Laura Fairchild

Our first appearance was on November 23rd.  Chris Golden, Don Carr and Jimmy Fulbright, as well as Ron Fairchild performed a variety of Christmas songs.

Stephanie and Riley Carr also dropped by for a visit.

Our second visit was on December 9th. Chris and Jimmy again joined Ron.  Don couldn't make it out on this night because his wife wasn't feeling well, but we knew he was there in spirit.

Chris was joined by his wife Kimberly and their three adorable children; Elizabeth, Rebekah and Elijah.  The stage was open for anyone that wanted to come up and sing.

Those Golden Girls must have the singing in the genes, Rebekah and Elizabeth entertained the crowd.  There was a family from England in the audience and the teen-aged daughter asked if she could sing a song as well.  She absolutely floored us, people came out of the stores and clapped for her.  We were lucky enough to catch this night's performances on video tape.

Jimmy finally gave in and let Shadow have a chance at the microphone too. (yes the mall aloud us to bring Shadow, like we would go without her)

Our last appearance was on December 16th and unbeknown to Ron I'd contacted several of his friends and invited them to come out and surprise him as that week marked Ron's 24th anniversary with the Oak Ridge Boys.

Chris Golden stopped by and sang a few songs even though he had one of his kids sick at home.  Don Carr joined Ron onstage and Jimmy Fulbright graced us with his smooth vocals once again.

I wasn't able to catch the look on Ron's face as he saw some of his friends show up, but he was very surprised.  Garland Craft, Richard and Lauren Sterban, Marko and Tina, all were there to show their support.  On this night, Shadow wasn't the center of attention.
